ANC does South Africa proud with resolution on apartheid Israel
Mvezo Komkhulu (The Great Place): - Our struggle against apartheid was not just won with words but with effective action and we must likewise teach apartheid Israel this lesson; we were never friends of brutality, oppression and state terrorism by Apartheid South Africa and we will never give up our struggle for a free Palestine.
Today we celebrate a great battle waged by ANC activists from all provinces in South Africa who unanimously and unconditionally adopted a resolution to downgrade relations with apartheid Israel.
It was my conscienable view that the only moral thing to do in the face of the cruelty and brutality that Israel is meting out to hundreds of young teenagers such as Ahed Tamimi on a daily basis was to send the Israeli Ambassador home and shutdown all diplomatic, trade and cultural ties.
We however welcome the downgrade as adopted by the 54th ANC National General Conference as it has reinvigorated our efforts at mobilizing the broadest possible front of ANC activists against apartheid Israel.
We want to send this message to our comrades in the Palestinian resistance both those living under occupation as well as the millions living in forced exile; we shall stand by you in the just struggle for a free Palestine.
Today we declare for all the world to hear that South Africa is no friend of Apartheid Israel and we condemn the ongoing tyranny, brutality and acts of genocide. We call on activists and revolutionaries all over the world to follow suit and isolate apartheid Israel… as the Global Anti-Apartheid movement did as an act of international solidarity that brought apartheid to its knees despite its immoral support from the USA regime and others.
I applaud the Palestinian leadership from both Hamas and Fateh for their presence on this historic occasion. They will personally carry the message home that we will never relent and give up this struggle until Palestine is free!!!
Emboldened by this act of solidarity we call on the United Nations to immediately implement all resolutions that apartheid Israel continues to defy with impunity. We also call on the International Court of Justice to stop turning a blind eye to Israeli genocide in Palestine.
We call on UNICEF and Amnesty International to take immediate action against apartheid Israel and to ensure that the Palestinian children incarcerated in Israeli jails are immediately released. The victimisation of the Tamimi family, in particular, must stop.
We will not rest until the right of return is won for all Palestinians in exile.
Our struggle can never be over as long as the occupation of Palestinian land persists and settlements continue to expand.
We will continue to intensity our efforts to raise awareness and build international solidarity against the imprisonment of Marwan Barghouti and 7000 other political prisoners in Apartheid Israel's jails.
Throughout the Centenial Celebrations year in 2018 which we have dedicated to the life and legacy of President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela we shall be flying the Palestinian flag high and restating our commitment to fight side by side until the goal of a free Palestine has been attained.
I salute my fellow comrades in the ANC who stood unwaveringly for the adoption of this resolution. Aluta continua!! The struggle continues. We can enter the Madiba Centenial Year knowing that we have vindicated ourselves and been true to his commitment to the liberation of the Palestinian people.
Long live the spirit of Cde Nelson Mandela!
The dream lives on and the legacy will never die!
